Recycling Refund: April 2008

Every few months we make a trip to the recycling center and drop off our card board, paper, glass, metal, and plastics. Some of the items earn us money, it isn’t much but it’s better than nothing. This time we had a grand total of $5.80.

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that 2 million plastic bottles are used in the US every five minutes or that 106,000 aluminum cans are used every 30 seconds in the US. I ran across the work of Chris Jordan a few days ago and he is a photographer who is best known for his large scale work depicting consumerism in the United States. His work shown on his website is definitely worth looking at, simply amazing. Click on the image below to view his site.
